Dear members and teachers!

It is with the deepest sorrow that I inform you the most unfortunate and unexpected demise of Shri Professor K. Madanagobalane, Founder President of the Association of Indian Teachers of French. Professor as he is called fondly by everyone, Prof. Madanagobalane had reached the lotus feet of the God on February 17, 2024 at his residence in Chennai at 3pm. His demise has left a deep void that can never be filled.

A journey of excellence but struggles, struggles to restore the rights of the French teachers in India, Prof. Madanagobalane is a true Vishwaguru, who has inspired and moulded many teachers and students across India. Wherever Professor Madanagobalane left his footprint, be it Madras Christian College, JNU, Madras University or BHU, those departments became vibrant. A man of positivity, Professor took everyone along with him in his growth.

First Indian to be conferred the grand Commandeur dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques in 2003, Professor Madanagobalane was indeed a commander, a born leader and a visionary.

He created the Association of Indian Teachers of French in 1986 with a vision, a vision that till now serves as the beacon to the association.

He left us a rich legacy to carry forward and I, as current President of the Association and more importantly as his proud student, promise that I will not fail him nor the association he has entrusted me with me. I am sure he will guide me, guide us from above.

Sir, I can’t thank you enough as your teachings were boundless and the experiences you have shared with are priceless.

Rest in peace Sir, Om Shanti !

Dr. N.C. Mirakamal
